Tim Russert

Russert is best known as the moderator of the television news show, “Meet the Press,” a job he held for 16 years. He also served as senior vice president of NBC News and was a correspondent for other television news programs, such as The Today Show and Hardball. Russert trained as a lawyer and was chief of staff to Senator Daniel Moynihan (D-NY).

Russert’s autobiography, Big Russ and Me (200) became a best-seller. He also edited Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons (2005). Russert was awarded 48 honorary doctorates from colleges, and other awards include a Congressional Medal of Honor Society Journalism Award, the American Legion Journalism Award, and an Emmy. He is buried in Rock Creek Cemetery.
